I did a fun interview with Natasha for the Adventures in Spirit and Entrepreneurship podcast on my transition from Pharmacist to life as a Theme Park Blogger!
Happy Holidays Hipsters!
There’s nothing like the holiday season. Rather it’s sitting cozily next to a fireplace with family or feeling the spirit of Christmas while walking around the Walt Disney World onsite hotels. Although I love both activities, I think you’d probably guess that the latter has become my new holiday tradition. A few years ago I discovered this new way of enjoying a free Christmas at Disney World. When I’d set out to do a post to help my fellow ThemeParkHipsters save on theme park holiday fun, I had no idea I’d discover how wonderful AND free a Disney holiday experience could be.
Christmas week is finally here and I am soooo happy to be able to spend another year with my loved ones. In case you’re a visitor or a central Florida local, I wanted to give you all some alternative holiday options to celebrating this festive occasion. The on-site hotels of Universal Orlando Resort will be offering a variety of holiday happenings for the 2014 season.
Hipsters get ready to plan your galactic trip to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in spring 2015! The Star Wars Weekends dates have been announced and will be held every weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) from May 15-June 14, 2015. The Star Wars Character Dining Experiences will be returning and are open for booking now.
During this yuletide season Disney traditionally takes gingerbread house building to a new height, making Walt Disney World the premiere holiday must do for all things merry! Due to Frozen record breaking success, one would expect the Norwegian fairy tale to bring its artic chill across the parks.
Take a look at the amazing time-lapse video below of the all-new Gingerbread Holiday Ice Castle at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, inspired by the film. The 17-foot-tall masterpiece is visible from the monorail as guests head to and from Magic Kingdom Park. The Frozen gingerbread castle took months to bake and five days to build. It is adorn with sugar snowflakes, gingerbread shingles and chocolate-coated trees with Anna, Elsa, Olaf, and more amongst the sugary creation.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas… well kind of. Walt Disney World Resort has started placing Disney Christmas decor all around the magical central Florida destination!
You can now see holiday displays throughout the Walt Disney World Resort. The Holiday Services team will be installing yuletide designs at Epcot after park hours on Nov. 13th-14th. The Holiday Services team will also be installing holiday decor at Disney’s Animal Kingdom after park hours on Nov. 17th-18th. This is definitely my favorite time of year at Disney.
The Morimoto Asia and BOATHOUSE dining experiences are coming to Disney Springs in 2015!
As the Downtown Disney Area transforms into Disney Springs, the first of its four distinct neighborhoods is starting to take shape along the waterfront. Known as The Landing, the area will be home to unique and memorable dining experiences including the just announced Morimoto Asia and The BOATHOUSE restaurants, opening in Spring or Summer 2015. ThemeParkHipsters will be excited to know that dining reservations will be available to book very soon.
New! PhotoPass Photos Automatically Linked to MagicBands: Are you a MagicBand wearer? Well if you are then you’re in for a treat…well it depends on if your definition of a treat is more on the creepy side. On select Walt Disney World Resort attractions, your photos will now be automatically associated with your My Disney Experience account. You don’t have to do anything… that’s kind of the creepy part.
If you’ve worn your MagicBand on one of the participating attractions in the last 45 days, you should be able to find that photo in your account now. If you don’t have a MagicBand you can use the new touch points at Magic Kingdom Park (Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain) and after you ride, simply find your photo on the preview wall and touch your park ticket or Memory Maker card to the touch point.
Happy Wednesday Hipsters! It’s time for your Christmas at Disney World news courtesy of our friends over at Destinations in Florida.
New! Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Sold Out Nov 7: The very first Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, which took place on November 7th at Magic Kingdom, was quickly sold out. This event is one of Walt Disney World’s most popular events as we watch Cinderella’s castle transform into an icy palace. Mickey’s party will also have a Frozen touch with Elsa, Anna, Kristoff and Olaf. Be sure to book your party adventure early.
Don’t forget that Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas is a separate ticket item event.
Candlelight Processional 2014 Returns to Epcot: Candlelight Processional is one of my favorite ThemePark holiday traditions to do at Walt Disney World. Each guest at Epcot is entertained with the jubilant reciting of the divine Christmas story from November 28th until December 30th. The story is usually told by a celebrity narrator accompanied with a 50-piece orchestra and a magnificent mass choir.
