Busch Gardens Tampa Bay Iron Gwazi Entrance

Iron Gwazi vs Gwazi: Battle of Busch Gardens Wooden Coasters

Iron Gwazi vs Gwazi at Busch Gardens Tampa: Which is better?

There has been a trend recently in the roller coaster/ theme park world.

We have seen it take place with:

  • Steel Vengeance at Cedar Point
  • Goliath at Six Flags Great America
  • Twisted Timbers at Kings Dominion
  • Wildcat’s Revenge at Hersheypark

If you don’t know, the trend involves classic wooden coasters getting what we call, “the RMC treatment.”

RMC or “Rocky Mountain Construction” is a manufacturing and constructions company famous for its I-Box track and topper track design for wooden coasters.

In total, they have revamped over 20 coasters, that combines steel and sometimes the original wood frames of the coasters to revive them as brand new thrill coasters.

They have crafted the same treatment for Busch Gardens Tampa’s Gwazi Roller Coaster, reborn as the immensely popular Iron Gwazi, a wooden dueling roller coaster boasting two separate tracks.

But is the new version better?

Today, I will discuss the two versions by comparing the histories, learning about the changes and key differences to determine which is the best version at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay.

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay Montu Roller Coaster Side By Side View

Montu at Busch Gardens: America’s TOP Roller Coaster

Tampa Bay is known for housing some of USA’s most extreme and fearsome (and awesome) thrill rides. Montu at Busch Gardens is no different.

It may not the be the world’s fastest or tallest roller coaster, but Montu still packs a punch.

Plus, it consists of not one, not two, but SEVEN intense, heart-stopping inversions!

This sets Montu apart from the crowd and makes it a respectable (albeit a little daunting) ride to take on for all my solo theme park adventurers!

Don’t worry though, in this guide, I will equip you with all the information you need to tackle this giant.

Cheetah Hunt Roller Coaster at Busch Gardens Tampa Ba

Cheetah Hunt at Busch Gardens: Ultimate Roller Coaster Thrill!

Are you ready to conquer Cheetah Hunt at Busch Gardens?

When it comes to giant steel roller coasters that scare the bejeezus out of you, Busch Gardens, Tampa has no rival.

It seems like the theme park has no shortage of inspiration for creating these ginormous steel monsters.

One such inspiration being the fastest animal on the planet– the cheetah.

Cheetah Hunt at Busch Gardens is a high thrill roller coaster, not made for the faint-hearted.

As its name suggests, the ride features high-speed inversions and ridiculously great acceleration.

Inspired by the cheetah’s ability to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (miles per hour) in a mere three seconds, the three-minute ride contains three stomach-lurching launches with lightning-fast acceleration.

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay wide shot of scorpion roller coaster

Scorpion at Busch Gardens Tampa: A Classic Roller Coaster for Enthusiasts

Scorpion at Busch Gardens Tampa is one of the few remaining attractions in the park.

I remember as a kid, I would be fascinated by how much people screamed on roller coasters.

AND, I would stand beside the ride, looking at the riders and then deem the ride worthy or unworthy based on how much people were screaming.

Yup, I was a budding adrenaline junkie alright.

My point is: if I were to visit the Scorpion at Busch Gardens Tampa as that twelve-year-old, I would still rank it pretty high.

Scorpion will take you to the highest heights of exhilaration, drop you into the depths of stomach-lurching fear and finish with a high-speed 360-degree pirouette.

21 Busch Gardens Must Do’s YOU Have to Experience in 2024!

Do you have a Busch Gardens must do’s list?

I do!

Busch Gardens is a must do theme park in Florida. This amazing park is over 335 acres with more than 2000 animals onsite.

Busch Gardens has a special place in my heart because it was where I rode my first roller coaster, the Python, in 1994.

I remember being terrified, but courageous enough to experience this roller coaster.

Busch Gardens was also the first theme park I was allowed to do without direct adult supervision.

Now that you understand my love of the park, let’s look at some of my favorite Busch Gardens rides, food, and attractions that you must do!
