The Incredicoaster, formerly known as California Screamin’, stands tall as one of Disney California Adventure’s most exhilarating attractions.
This one is one of my favorites at the park and my boyfriend, who I recently brought for his first visit last year, stated that it was his favorite of the whole visit!

In 2018, the ride underwent a transformation to align with the theme of Disney-Pixar’s “The Incredibles,” complete with a new storyline and updated theming.

Since its grand debut in 2012 as part of the park’s extensive expansion, this attraction has captured the hearts of visitors worldwide, immersing them in the vibrant world of Disney-Pixar’s “Cars” franchise.

3. Guardians of the Galaxy- Mission Breakout!
Originally known as The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, this iconic drop tower ride underwent a spectacular transformation in 2017 to become a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
A controversial choice when announced, ultimately I feel it was a great decision as the previous version of Tower of Terror at DCA was, for me, the weaker of the versions I’ve ridden.
For context, I have ridden every version except Tokyo DisneySea’s version.
Why We Love This Ride at Disney California Adventure
Inspired by the popular “Guardians of the Galaxy” film franchise, Mission: Breakout! transports you to the intergalactic fortress of the Collector, where we join Rocket Raccoon on a daring mission to rescue the Guardians from captivity.
The creation of Mission: Breakout! was a monumental undertaking that involved collaboration between Disney Imagineers and the creative minds behind the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films.
With an eye for detail and a commitment to authenticity, Imagineers painstakingly recreated the otherworldly environment of the Collector’s fortress, infusing the attraction with nods to Marvel lore and Easter eggs for die-hard fans to discover.
The result was a fully immersive experience that transports you into the heart of the Marvel Universe, where you become part of the action alongside your favorite characters!
What to Expect on Guardians of the Galaxy- Mission Breakout!
From the moment you step into the queue area, you’ll be greeted by animatronic creatures, elaborate set pieces, and a lively soundtrack.
After that, you’ll board gantry lift vehicles and embark on a pulse-pounding journey through the depths of the Collector’s fortress, journeying through twists, turns, and unexpected drops along the way.
What Make Guardians of the Galaxy better than Tower of Terror
On Guardians of the Galaxy- Mission Breakout!, each experience is different as you will get different drop sequences based on 5 possible and randomized song choices.
However, I can’t fathom how random it is since I get the same song choice every visit (haha!). And I visit quite often so safe to say, I’m a bit salty about it.
Since its debut, the ride has received numerous awards and accolades, including the prestigious Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement from the Themed Entertainment Association.

4. Soarin’ Over California
Soarin’ Over California emerges as a quintessential must-do attraction at Disney California Adventure, offering you a breathtaking aerial journey across the Golden State’s most iconic landscapes.
Funnily enough, I only recently experienced this version when it was offered as a limited time offering at EPCOT and loved it!
Originally debuting in 2001, Soarin’ Over California captivated audiences with its innovative ride system and immersive storytelling.
Inspired by the natural beauty and diverse geography of California, the attraction takes you on a simulated hang glider flight over stunning vistas, from the majestic mountains of Yosemite to the sun-drenched beaches of Malibu.
The Famous Scents on Soarin’
Scents associated with the state including citrus, pine, sagebrush, ocean mist fill the air as the ride vehicles move gently to simulate the sensations of flight.
In addition to the state’s various landscapes, it also highlights its diverse recreation, including:

Honestly, it’s just breathtaking and one of my favorite parks of the attraction.
Along the way, you are enveloped in the scents of pine forests, orange groves, and salty ocean air, adding an extra layer of immersion to the experience.
Why Soarin’ Over California is Special to the Theme Park Industry
With its impressive statistics, including a 180-degree IMAX projection dome and a motion-based ride system, Soarin’ Over California continues to captivate audiences with its first of it’s kind visuals and exhilarating ride experience told through music.
The attraction’s success has even inspired similar versions to be created at other Disney parks around the world, including Soarin’ Around the World at Epcot in Walt Disney World and Shanghai Disneyland.
Despite these adaptations, Soarin’ Over California remains a beloved classic at Disney California Adventure, offering guests a timeless journey through the beauty and wonder of the Golden State.
5. Monsters inc: Mike & Sulley to the Rescue!
Originally opening its doors in 2006, this beloved dark ride invites you to embark on a madcap adventure through the bustling City of Monstropolis alongside their favorite characters from Disney-Pixar’s “Monsters, Inc.” franchise.
However, the history of the attraction traces back to its predecessor, Superstar Limo, which opened with the park in 2001.
Superstar Limo, a dark ride inspired by Hollywood’s celebrity culture, failed to resonate with audiences due to its controversial theme and lackluster execution.
In response to the lukewarm reception, Disney Imagineers embarked on a complete overhaul of the attraction, transforming it into the charming and beloved Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue!
What to Expect on Monsters inc: Mike & Sulley to the Rescue!
The revamped ride debuted in 2006 to much acclaim, delighting guests with its playful spirit and immersive storytelling.
The overall ride experience on Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! is nothing short of enchanting
As you travel through the neon-lit streets of Monstropolis, you are treated to a whimsical adventure filled with lively animatronics, vibrant set pieces, and catchy musical numbers.
From dodging the mischievous antics of Randall Boggs to rescuing Boo from the clutches of the villainous Randall, every moment of the ride is brimming with excitement and charm.
Why We Love This Ride at Disney California Adventure
With its silly nature, including a track length of 1,112 feet and a ride duration of approximately four minutes, Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! continues to delight guests of all ages with its playful spirit and immersive storytelling.
It’s always one of the rides that I MUST DO whenever I visit DCA.
And although the attraction may not have received specific awards, its enduring popularity and status as a fan-favorite makes it a standout experience and one of the best rides at at Disney California Adventure.
